So it’s not surprising then to hear that NSW energy retailer EnergyAustralia is in talks with the National Broadband Network Company (NBN Co) to use the network as a gateway into its household and business customers.

Speaking at the IQPC Smart Grids Forusm EnergyAustralia managing director George Maltabarrow said the two companies have a common interest in the ‘last mile’ of networks between the exchange and the user. Maltabarrow said his company was exploring the idea of a gateway to the household that would be provided on an open-access basis to companies such as his.

Telecommunications analyst Paul Budde has posted a thought provoking post on his Communication Breakdown blog at Business Spectator.  Budde contends that if we execute well on the National Broadband Network it will have enormous benefits for our country.
